Happy Mardi Gras all

We had fun this weekend – out and about at parades – freezing on Friday on St. Charles Avenue and hot on Tuesday on Veterans Boulevard – caught lotsa stuff from the pa-rades and drank lots of libations

C and I were wandering up and down Veterans Boulevard today looking for friends along the route – yep that’s right we were hanging in Metry – and I stumbled upon the best kept secret in Metairie…

…if you ever find yourself out in unincorporated Jefferson Parish on the east bank for Mardi Gras, and you are looking for a sweet spot with bathrooms, then pitch your blanket, plop your food, and get your parade on at Causeway and Veterans on the neutral ground side by the war monument – where they have those hideous scaffold viewing stands – however tucked behind them are many bathrooms that are virtually free of the long lines – and they are free!!!

And if anyone is looking to do something worthwhile with all the Mardi Gras bead detritus

then you can bring them to St. Michael’s School

Location of St. Michael’s on Chippewa Street

The students repackage the beads then resell them as a fund raiser for the school – anyone interested might want to call them first, 504-524-7285 to make sure they are accepting donations

OK then, with all that said it is time to slow it on down for a spell – I feel like I’ve been on a careening runaway train since Thanksgiving, and it is time to put the brakes on…
