chapter 4 – dropped like a hot potato

In this morning’s Times Picayune Money section is an article on the State of Louisiana insurance commission challenging Allstate to reinstate those homeowner’s policies that were dropped on the technicality that they changed their coverage to a new Allstate insurance division within 3 years of Hurricane Katrina, This technicality made those long term policies null under the 3-year coverage rule and subsequently Allstate bailed on their longterm clients. The ruling is expected to come on January 18, next Friday. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
