the church on Dauphine street

WYES Channel 12 just played this documentary on the restoration of Blessed Seelos Church and building. The church, known formerly as St. Vincent de Paul in the Bywater neighborhood and was the church of my mother’s family when they lived in that neighborhood years ago was not flooded – however the 15,000 sf building adjacent to the church sustained alot of wind damage. A volunteer group from Seattle, coupled with many local volunteers restored the church and building, and this is the documentary chronicling the sequence of events. If you missed this, the DVD is available at The film is a poignant reminder of the people who still suffer the lingering effects of the storm.
