and it does

go on, life that is……

Things are looking up, and it seems like it will get better despite the pressures still in place. Had some clarification, and another friend going through the same thing and who is in the same place as me right now called, so I was able to commiserate with someone dealing with the same stuff.

Its grad school. And its not easy. Whoever in the hell said grad school was a piece of cake was full of shit. I am having a tough time dealing with the pressure of the deadlines that come with grad school, and the uncertainty of passing the course of study. And don’t even mention the thesis. I simply cannot focus right now and get it started. I blew my summer concentrating on literature reviews and book and article searches, came home with a 1x1x3 foot box FILLED with research materials, but I am so discombobulated with everything else swirling around I cannot get my shit together and start writing the damn thing. All combined its not a pleasurable experience.

This is the major thing going on, in addition to some other things that went belly up in the past week or so. The fact that everything happened together made the burden that much greater.

My dad saw that I was hurting last night and gave me this, it helped me to focus and realize that this too shall pass…

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong

As they sometimes will

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill

When the funds are low and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit —

Rest if you must, but don’t you quit

Life is queer with its twists and turns

As everyone of us sometimes learns

And many a fellow turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow —

You may succeed with another blow

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor’s cup;

And he learned too late when the night came down

How close he was to the golden crown

Success is failure turned inside out —

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt

And you never can tell how close you are

It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit

It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit
